    SLAVE RESISTANCE

    Raleigh Register, October 14, 1830

    $25 REWARD.

RAN AWAY from the subscriber, living in Northampton county, some time since, a negro man named

    JIM,
formerly the property of Lemuel Long. Jim is between 30 and 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, black complexion with one of his upper fore-teeth out. I have every reason to believe he is lurking about Mush Island, or the neighborhood of Halifax town. I will give the above reward for his delivery to me, provided he is taken before I leave Northampton for the west, which will be about the 10th of Dec. next.

    H D. SMITH.
